Sometimes our usual conditioner just doesn't cut it and we might need a product that works a little harder. Hair can be put though lots of stresses though daily styling, using heat, bleaching, and colouring especially changing your hair colour often.
Thankfully there are a ton of really great products out there, its just a case of knowing what your hair needs right now.

Moisture treatments/ hair masks - these are basically super concentrated versions of conditioner and work instantly. When hair is lacking moisture it can feel dry, frizzy and just meh. Masks can be applied in salon (yes to that head massage!)  or take one home and use regularly for maximum benefits. Our salon uses The Keune Care range ( there are 5 to choose from; Colour Brillianz, Curl Control, Vital Nutrition, Satin Oil & Keratin Smooth. RRP $33.95 (for200mL)

Protein Treatments - For the time poor, Eleven Australia does a great 3 minute treatment. Contains Protein (the strenghtening ingredient) & Moisture. Best suited to those with weak, brittle hair that is also dry. Stick to the 3 minute time recommended. Keep in mind that protein treatments  can be overdone and can have the reverse effect on your hair making it feel fragile again.

Olaplex Treatments - Olaplex treatments can be added to your colour service or be used as a stand alone treatment. It helps to restore your hair to its natural texture. We recommend using Olaplex before a big colour change to repair any previous damage and keep it feeling and looking nice during and after achieving your new look. The first two phases of the Olaplex treatment are done in the salon and you can take home the third phase for regular treatments. Starting from $20 for an express treatment

Hair maintenance can be really expensive so I tried resorting to natural or organic ingredients. But I would still sometimes use commercialized products from stores and do my hair, instead of going to salon. My hair, which is wavy, used to be really dry and frizzy especially during puberty period. I couldn't go out without ironing my hair to make it look decent, even though I know that it would just damage it further. It was only two years ago that I took hair care seriously and looked for products and methods to make it look better and healthier. I could say that you really have to invest not only lost of money but also time and patience to get results. I'm still working on my hair but I've seen improvements compared to what it looked like before.
